Early Life

Born in 1964 to Indrajeet and Mrs Sharmishtha Shah, Vikram has two sisters. He grew up in an upper middle class background where hard work and learning were given the most importance.

He spent his childhood with his grandmother, who was affected with arthritis of knees. Her pain made her bedridden all her life and young Vikram was motivated to become an orthopaedic surgeon from a young age.

He did qualify as an orthopaedic surgeon and took advanced training in total knee replacement. However he was not destined to operate on his grandmother as she died the day Dr Vikram did his first total knee replacement surgery in New Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad.
